• What is a trigalight®?
  A trigalight® is a self-powered light source that uses tritium gas to produce a constant glow. It requires no batteries, charging, or external light and remains continuously illuminated for years.
  
  
• What is tritium?
  Tritium is a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen. In glow applications, it is used in a sealed gaseous form to safely produce light through a low-energy process.
  
  
• How does it generate light?
  As the tritium slowly decays, it releases electrons that interact with a phosphor coating inside the vial, producing a continuous glow. This process requires no external power.
  
  
• Does it need charging?
  No. Tritium is completely self-powered and glows 24/7 without needing sunlight, electricity, or batteries.
  
  
• How long does it last?
  Tritium has a half-life of around 7.5 years. In practical use, most glow products remain visible for 10–20 years, gradually dimming over time.
  
  
• Is it safe?
  Yes. The tritium is securely sealed inside a durable glass vial and does not emit harmful radiation externally. It is widely used in watches, safety equipment, and military applications.
  
  
• What happens if it breaks?
  If the internal vial is physically broken, the glow will stop immediately. The gas disperses quickly into the air and does not pose a significant risk, but products should still be handled with care.
  
  
• Are Nite Glowrings waterproof?
  Yes. They are designed to withstand everyday exposure to water and harsh conditions.
  
  
• Do they work in all environments?
  Yes. Tritium performs consistently in extreme conditions, including temperatures from approximately -40°C to +70°C, and works regardless of light exposure or humidity.
  
  
• Do they fade overnight like glow-in-the-dark products?
  No. Unlike glow-in-the-dark materials, tritium does not rely on stored light, so it will not fade in darkness.
  
  
• Do they need maintenance or replacement parts?
  No. Tritium devices require no maintenance, servicing, or replacement parts throughout their lifespan.
  
  
• Do they need to be switched on or off?
  No. They are always on. From the moment they are manufactured, they emit a constant glow with no switches or controls.
  
  
• Where is this technology used?
  Tritium light sources are used in high-end watches, military gear, safety signage, and specialist equipment where reliable visibility in darkness is essential.
  
  
• Which colour is brightest?
  Green and yellow appear the brightest to the human eye. Other colours such as blue, red, and purple are still clearly visible but appear dimmer due to how our eyes perceive light.
  
  
• Can they be used in hazardous environments?
  Yes. Tritium light sources are inert and suitable for use in hazardous areas where electronic devices may not be appropriate.
